Energy model and simulation for LEED
Efficient use of energy is by far the most important part of the LEED certification. If you add up the field for the optimization of energy performance, it is up to 15% of the total points. To obtain credits from parts EAp2 and EAC1 is necessary to create an energy model based on a comparison with the base building which is determined by how many credits the project receives. In Enerfis, we create energy models under the LEED certification Equest software, a tool approved and recommended by the GBCI (Green Building Certification Institute).
What you get: Up to 10 points under the LEED New Construction and 21 within the core & shell
The energy model is applicable under EAp2 prerequisite credit and then also EAC1: Optimize Energy Performance. At first we create a model for the proposed building, then the base building based on the requirements of ASHRAE standards. By comparing the percentage of the resulting simulation created by the proposed building and answer how many credits you get for building design.
Energy-modeling and Energy-Analysis are used to:
- Predict the monthly energy consumption and bills
- Predict the annual energy cost
- Annual CO2 emissions
- Compare and contrast different efficiency options
- Determine life cycle payback on various options
In case you decided for Core & Shell scheme, you have the option for your project get also precertification. It is equally necessary for the precertification to create an energy model, which is created on the basis of an early-stage design. At the beginning of the project, the energy model answers to the fundamental questions concerning the construction and planned technology in the building. Our work and recommendations can reduce the cost of future operations of the property for investors or developers.
Since July 2007, the requirement for all projects get at least 2 points in the credit EAC1: Optimize energy performance.
